Keep It Going
Helping Children Thrive After Loss

About Keep It Going
Keep It Going is dedicated to supporting children who have lost a parent. Founded by Kami Garcia, our organization recognizes that grief affects children deeply, and with the right support and positive outlets, they can not only heal but thrive. We believe that extracurricular activities provide essential opportunities for children to process their emotions, build confidence, and create meaningful connections with mentors and peers who understand their journey.
Our mission is twofold: we sponsor extracurricular activities for grieving children to help them stay focused on positive growth, and we provide resources to parents and caregivers to help them recognize and address grief in their children. Through activities like sports, arts, and other pursuits, combined with compassionate guidance, we help children develop resilience and maintain hope for their future.
Our Services

Extracurricular Activity Sponsorship
We provide sponsorship for children who have lost a parent to participate in extracurricular activities of their choice, including sports, arts, music, and other enrichment programs that help them heal and grow. We also have been fortune enough to be able to provide toys for Christmas, Easter baskets, and School supplies for the children in our program.

The Story of How Keep It Going came about
In 2021, Kami Garcia experienced profound grief, losing her sister-in-law in January, her brother ten days later, and the father of her children to cancer in May. To help her children cope with their shared pain, she enrolled them in football, where they found a supportive community of positive mentors, coaches, and teammates who keep them motivated. After gaining custody of her two bonus sons in late 2022, their mother was also tragically killed. Inspired by her children’s resilience, happiness, and strength through immense loss, Kami realized her passion and mission is to support and comfort other children navigating similar trauma and grief.

Mentorship and Community Connection
We connect grieving children with positive mentors, coaches, and peer communities who provide ongoing support, encouragement, and role modeling to help them navigate their grief and build resilience.
